Welcome to Biology! 2007/2008
Welcome! I hope that your summer has gone well, and that you are ready to begin the new year in Biology! I am excited about this coming school year and the opportunities my students and I will have to explore the concepts presented in this chemistry course. This class will focus not only on life science, but on the process of science. How do scientists think and work? You will have the chance to observe, question, and experiment your way through topics about microscopes, cells, cell energy, DNA, genetics, and more! Each week you can look forward to interesting facts, hands-on investigations, and thought provoking discussions. Are you ready? In addition, I wish to let you know that I will be working toward national board certification. What this will mean to you is that you will occasionally see a video camera taping me as I work with you and you may be asked if I can hold on to some of your work as I write my portfolios. I appreciate your participation in this with me. For next time, please complete the following: 1. Please complete your biology syllabus by unscrambling the mystery words. (There is a HINT on the class web site.)
2. Read through your lab safety rules and class syllabus, and along with your parents/guardians sign and return the bottom portion of this page.
3. Have your parent/guardian complete the parent survey.
Dear Parents/Guardians, Please take a moment to review the course syllabus and lab safety rules. If you have any questions during the school year concerning your child’s education, please contact me. I have included a parent survey, which asks for information about your student, as well as your contact information. Be sure to include your e-mail address, if possible. I look forward to working with you and your student this year! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me at leek@peninsula.wednet.net or 530-1400. Sincerely, Kirsten Lee
