applications for the 2010 – 2011 school year.

remain at their transfer school. New transfer requests
are granted on a space available basis.
Forms are available at school offices, at the district

www.psd401.net or at the Peninsula School
District Educational Service Center. Applications should
be returned to the Peninsula School District Educational

All sophomores and any juniors and seniors who have not
passed the Reading and Writing WASL will be taking the
High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) starting March 16th.
The HSPE replaces the WASL this year, but the graduation
requirements that are tied to these tests have not been
changed. Students must still pass the reading and
writing sections of either the HSPE or the WASL in order
to earn a high school diploma. Students should check
with their school counselor if they are unsure of their
graduation status regarding these state tests.
The new HSPE will look very much like the WASL. Some of
the same items from the WASL are being used on the HSPE;
however, the HSPE does not include the longer 4-point
questions. Students will also see more multiple choice
items and less open-ended questions. With the HSPE,
Reading, Math and Science each require one day of
testing. Writing has no changes and will still require
students to test over two days.
Students must arrive by 7:30 am on the following days in
order to participate in testing:
| March 16th |
- Reading |
| March 17th |
- Writing |
| March 18th |
- Writing (Students
must take both days of writing to earn a score) |
| April 13th |
- Math |
| April 15th |
- Science |

The third in a series of four unstructured forums
inviting community members to provide feedback, raise
issues and ask questions pertinent to the Peninsula
School District is scheduled for May 4 at Key
Peninsula Middle School from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. The
meetings are held at middle school sites to afford
community members the opportunity to visit their
neighborhood schools. One final forum for the 2009-2010
school year is planned for June 1, 2010 Kopachuck
Middle School, 6:30 p.m. The evenings are
hosted by Superintendent Terry Bouck and everyone is
invited to participate—you do not need to have a student
enrolled in the District. We look forward to hearing
from you!

Dear Parent/Guardian,
As a goal for the 2009-2010 school year the Peninsula School District is attempting to save money by moving many possible communications to a digital method rather than paper. This should help us to reduce administrative costs of paper, printing, and postage. To be successful in this endeavor, we need to make sure we have correct email addresses for all students/parents. Please review the steps below for updating your student's contact email address. |
