March 2009
Dear Community
Members:
Thank you for your support and help in passing the
recent replacement levy. We extend a huge expression of
gratitude to the community for their show of confidence
in the Peninsula School District.
As we shared in our recent levy presentations, the
2009-2010 budget year will be a very challenging one. We
anticipate that the state will significantly reduce the
amount of funding to schools. Because state funding of
basic education remains our primary source of revenue,
these reductions will have a serious impact on how we
manage our schools on a day-to-day-basis.
Over the next few months, we will be asking for your
input. We will have survey opportunities for staff,
parents and the community. There will also be community
forums and, finally, a public hearing. We encourage you
to attend one of the scheduled meetings so your voice is
heard. Your opinions will be vital in preparing this
budget.
In these challenging times, we need to continue to work
together to make the best out of a difficult situation.
We thank you for your continued involvement and support.
Sincerely,
Terry Nelsen Bouck
