Levy Explanatory Statement

The levy approved by the taxpayers is being used to pay for about 20% of School District expenditures. This funding allows the School District to reduce class size, increase safety and security, hire and develop professional staff, supplement the costs of after school programs, purchase essential technology and instructional materials, maintain and clean buildings, and acquire clean, safe, and fuel efficient buses.

Specifically, the replacement levy supports:

School Safety

  • Hiring two high school security officers
  • Staffing health technicians and an additional school nurse
  • Repairing or replacing unsafe equipment

Student Programs

  • Purchasing classroom supplies and library/instructional materials
  • Hiring teachers and support staff
  • Developing curriculum and student assessment standards
  • Supporting struggling students
  • Offering after school and extra-curricular programs

Staff Support and Community Involvement

  • Funding office and paraprofessional support staff
  • Assisting staff retention with professional development opportunities and creation of teacher leadership opportunities
  • Building community partnerships

Operations and Maintenance

  • Protecting capital investments with custodial, maintenance and grounds support personnel
  • Funding technology support and essential upgrades
  • Upgrading bus fleet, providing kindergarten mid-day transportation
  • Planning for repair and replacement of equipment
