Flyer Approval

Peninsula School District

Handout Distribution Process

The Peninsula School District attempts to relay information, to our staff, students and their families, about the variety of local services and activities available, under the following guidelines:

¨      When an agency requests permission to distribute, they must submit a copy of the flyer* and a completed Request to Distribute Materials form.  Contact is made with the office of Assistant Superintendent for P-12 Education Programs, by fax: (253) 530-1010; or email Katy Ellis

  • Submissions for Wednesday & Thursday take-home envelopes at the elementary schools must be received by the Thursday afternoon of the week before.

  • All out-of-district submissions must include the following disclaimer:

Peninsula School District does not sponsor / endorse the activity and / or information contained in this flyer.
The PSD assumes no responsibility for conduct or safety during the activity/event.
In consideration for the privilege to distribute these materials, the PSD shall be held harmless from
any cause of action, claim or petition filed in any court or administrative tribunal, arising out of distribution of these materials, including all costs, attorney’s fees, judgments or awards.

¨      With public access to local advertising mediums, such as newspapers, bulletin boards, internet websites, etc., the Peninsula School District will limit their student distributions to communications from Non-Profit agencies/organizations.  Non-Profit Identity Numbers shall be included on each flyer, i.e., 501c.

¨      At no time can district staff time, office equipment or materials be used in the dissemination of this information, as the district can not contribute such a gift of public funds.

  • Materials must be delivered bundled appropriately for school or classroom distribution per the Distribution Instructions

  • Cut & Paste quality announcements for school newsletters may be submitted via email; Inclusion will be at the discretion of the principal, if space allows

  • The principal at each school will be given the final authority for distribution.

  • Deliveries of materials can be made directly to the school or to the district office, for the district courier to disseminate.  Large boxes of materials, i.e., catalogs, require special delivery permission/instructions and may need to be taken to the district warehouse and may take more time to be delivered, due to limited space in the courier van.

¨      Parent volunteers at the elementary schools will place flyers in students’ take-home folders or envelopes; at the middle and high school levels, copies of the flyers can be posted in the Community Information area or on the office counter, after permission has been granted by the building principal.

¨       Staff information, such as trainings or special offers, may be submitted in the same manner as above.  Click on this link for Distribution Instructions
The local business community make donations and support our schools in many ways and occasionally request permission to distribute their catalogs to staff.  Gig Harbor businesses, ONLY, may distribute up to 5 catalogs per building, using the same manner as above, bundled and labeled as follows: Principal, Athletics, ASB, Staff Room and/or PTA.  Other businesses are permitted to mail a catalog to a specific staff person they may have done business with in the past, but they must arrive by US Mail, UPS, etc.

*Please note:  Flyers or handouts will NOT be approved for, nor will they be distributed to, students
during the first and last 2 weeks of the school year.
This is due to the large quantity of district materials being sent home, many requiring parent response.
