32 PSD Students Earned the Seal of Biliteracy

Congratulations to our high school students who were awarded the Seal of Biliteracy! This special award is given to students who show proficiency in English and at least one other language before their high school graduation. This year, 32 students from Peninsula High School and Gig Harbor High School earned their certificates and seals, which they will wear on graduation day.

Students must show the ability to read, write, listen and speak in a language. Being able to speak more than one language is a valuable skill that can open up opportunities for students throughout their adult life.

Students tested in eight languages this year: Fujian, French, Indonesian, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog and Thai. Big thanks go out to Hoa Weale of the Teaching and Learning Department for her coordination of the Seal of Biliteracy program on behalf of PSD students.

The Seal of Biliteracy award can help a student earn college credit, apply for scholarships, or study abroad. We are so proud of your hard work students!
