Today, Thursday, March 2, is Read Across America Day! We want to invite our community to share what they are reading as a part of our 1 Million Minutes Read challenge! 

What is Read Across America? 

Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading! A program from the National Education Association, the celebration is held year-round and is highlighted annually in March. The program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and resources. 

At PSD, we want to invite our students, families, staff and community to celebrate reading as a part of Peninsula Reads and the 1 Million Minutes Read Challenge!

What is Peninsula Read and the 1 Million Minutes Read Challenge?

PSD knows reading leads to lifelong success, which is why our goal is to have 100% of third grade students reading proficiently by 2026. And we need YOU to reach this goal! 

As part of our Peninsula Reads program, PSD partnered with Pen Light to challenge everyone to collectively read 1 million minutes by the last day of school, June 21, 2023. 

Participants can log minutes online at https://bit.ly/1MillionMinsPSD. Reading minutes can include books, magazines, articles, websites, the cereal box, instruction guides, signs, or anything that requires reading!
