Celebrating a Milestone: Peninsula High School’s TideHawks NJROTC Achieves Full Funding and Recognition

We are thrilled to announce an exciting milestone for the TideHawks, the Navy National Defense Cadet Corps (NNDCC) unit at Peninsula High School. The Department of the Navy has officially recognized our TideHawks as a Navy Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NJROTC) unit, granting it full funding and comprehensive support. This is a monumental step for the program, which was established just three years ago.

The newly awarded NJROTC status brings not just prestige but also substantial benefits, including partial reimbursement for instructor salaries, uniform support, and additional financial backing. These resources are pivotal in enhancing the educational and training opportunities for our cadets, helping them develop into leaders and active community members.

The transition to a fully funded NJROTC unit is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our cadets and their leaders. Under the guidance of CMC Robert Stockton, the TideHawks have exemplified what it means to operate successfully and achieve early success in a highly competitive field. Their commitment and exemplary performance have been recognized nationally, with NJROTC Program representative Commander Vincent Quidachay citing the unit’s “highly successful operation” as a decisive factor for this funding.

This funding not only empowers our students with more tools and opportunities but also places our unit among the elite 585 NJROTC units across the country that receive direct support from the U.S. Navy. It's a privilege that speaks volumes about the potential and quality of our naval sciences program.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Department of the Navy and Commander Quidachay for their support and belief in our program. Most importantly, we applaud our cadets, whose drive and excellence have brought this honor to our school and community. Their achievements remind us of the profound impact that dedicated individuals can have on their world.

As we celebrate this significant achievement, we are reminded of our commitment to the motto “Every Child, Every Day.” This recognition reinforces our resolve to continue providing the best educational experiences, ones that inspire and empower our students to excel.

Please join us in congratulating the TideHawks on this remarkable achievement. They are not just preparing for their futures—they are also shaping ours.
