The Seal of Biliteracy is a special award given to students who show a proficiency in English and at least one other language before their high school graduation. This year, over 35 students at Peninsula High School and Gig Harbor High School earned their certificates and seals, which they will wear on graduation day.
Being able to speak more than one language is a valuable skill that can open up opportunities for students throughout their adult life. The Seal of Biliteracy award can help a student earn college credit, apply for scholarships, or study abroad. Each PSD who earns the award must take a proficiency test, where they are ranked in the state and nationally.
This year’s class of Seal of Biliteracy recipients is one the largest classes in PSD’s recent history. Congratulations to our high school students!
