The Peninsula School District is happy to announce a new principal at Peninsula High School (PHS) was chosen to lead the high school into the 2022-2023 school year and beyond.
Mike Benoit, current principal at Harbor Ridge Middle School, was chosen as PHS’s new principal. PHS Principal Joe Potts took a position with the Bellevue School District as of
Benoit has been in education for over 30 years. He’s a graduate of Washington State University and received his master’s degree from Gonzaga University.
Benoit and his family are 20 year residents of Gig Harbor. He began his career in Federal Way School District as a teacher and later building principal. In 2004, he joined the
Peninsula School District as principal of Vaughn Elementary. Since 2010, Benoit has been the principal at Harbor Ridge Middle School, and will now be the Peninsula High School principal beginning the 2022-2023 school year.
His experience as a classroom teacher, coach, and principal brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Benoit is invested in the PSD community and the families here, and is excited to bring his positive energy and love of our kids to the high school level at PHS.
In his free time, Benoit enjoys the outdoors, swimming, family time, and learning and exploring new things.
“I know with his compassionate leadership and experience in education, Mr. Benoit will be an amazing principal for the PHS community and that we will have a great school year,” Assistant Superintendent Dan Gregory said.
PSD leadership is undergoing an accelerated process of seeking a new principal for Harbor Ridge Middle School. An announcement is anticipated by mid-August.
