Now is the time to sign-up for C.A.P.E. 2023, which is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Peninsula School District female students. 

Career and Pathway Expor (C.A.P.E) is a one-day event in January where female students can attend workshops on engineering, medical and health sciences, and animal sciences. 

This year C.A.P.E will take place from 8:45 a.m - 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 at Harbor Ridge Middle School. The cost is $15 per student, and can be paid via check, cash or online. Please bring check or cash payments to your school's bookkeeper. 

PSD recognizes costs should not be a barrier to inclusion. Fees will be waived for those who are eligible for free and reduced lunch prices.

What is the agenda?

• 8:45 a.m. - Student check-in
• 9:15 a.m. - Keynote speakers
• 9:45 a.m. - Hands-on STEM Expo
• 11:15 a.m. - Three rotations of career workshops related to;

• 1:00 p.m. - Wrap-up presentation and sack lunch. 
• 1:30 p.m. - Dismissal

Engineering/Technology Sessions

• Play around in an Augmented Reality Sandbox with an XBox 3D camera brining Earth Science to life. 
• Explore coding to unlock all of the careers in gaming, design, and programming with a computer scientist. 
• Visualize, design, and buld to get a sense of the versatility of a career in project management. 

Medical/Health Sciences Sessions: 

• Scrub into a heart repair simulation with an endovascular surgeon. 
• Practice your suturing skills alongside doctors
• Imagine brining a baby back to life with infant resuscitation techniques on medical mannequins. 

Animal Sciences Sessions: 

• Create a water filtration system with instructions from marine biologists. 
• Get to play veterinarian for a session using their instruments to examine an animal. 
• Save the world, one species at a time, in an endangered species class.
