Dear PSD Staff and Families,
We hope you are all well. Here are some updates for this week:
Second Grade Family Intent Surveys Results
Second grade families across the district took our family intent survey last week, telling us which families want their child to come to school for in-person learning and which families want their child to continue to learn remotely. Right now we are still in the planning phase while knowing that the addition of new students to campus is dependent upon guidance from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department (TPCHD) and COVID-19 case rates.
We received more than 530 responses to our survey. Just over 78 percent of families surveyed told us they want in-person learning for their child.
Elementary and Middle School Conferences are Next Week
Conferences are a great way for families to meet with educators for focused conversations about the personal and academic growth and well-being of a student. Elementary and middle school conferences are set for next week, Oct. 26-30, mostly via Zoom. Please check with your child’s teacher if you haven’t already scheduled a time for your child’s conference. High school students will not have Late Start on Oct. 28.
School Bus Drivers, Mechanics, and Transportation Dept Staff Recognition Week -
This week is National School Bus Safety Week, so we are recognizing our amazing Transportation staff for all they do! Bus drivers, driver trainers, mechanics, dispatchers and other transportation workers are on the front lines daily meeting and greeting students and families. They are dedicated professionals who always keep safety at the forefront of their work. During the pandemic, our drivers have adapted to distributing meals to students at schools and hub locations throughout the community. Thank you for all you do!

- 10/26: Online and by mail registrations must be received.
- 11/3: Register to vote in person by 8 p.m. at a County Elections Office.
