ES9 Render Front of School View

January of 2021 marks two major milestones in the Peninsula School District. First, Pioneer Elementary School completed construction and opened its doors to its students. Also, the Board of Directors took steps to identify the boundaries of our school we’ve been calling Elementary School #9 (ES9), located on Harbor Hill Drive in Gig Harbor.

Boundaries for the new school have yet to be decided, but we encourage and welcome our community to make recommendations for the name of our new school. The naming of the school must align with following requirements outlined in School Board Policy 6970.

Recommended names must be:

  • A person who has attained national or local prominence in the fields of education, arts and sciences, politics, military achievements, and statesmanship; or

  • A past U.S. president or Washington national senators or representatives; or

  • A geographic characteristic of the area in which the facility is located; and

  • The use of names of living persons will be avoided unless circumstances warrant an exception

To make a naming recommendation, please complete this form:

ES9 - School Naming Form

Timeline for ES9 name selection:

  • February 3 through February 8 - Survey open for submitting nominations

  • Monday, February 8 - Survey closes for school name nominations

Thank you for participating in our naming process for the soon-to-be-named ES9!

If you have any questions about the process, please contact David Brooks, Principal at brooksd@psd401.net or Dan Gregory, Assistant Superintendent at gregoryd@psd401.net
