Preservice Teachers & ESAs

Student Teachers, Interns, PreClinical, and Practicum placements

It is the intent of the Peninsula School District to provide the student with a rigorous, authentic, and high-quality classroom experience.  To that end, we require all applicants to be enrolled in a State Board of Education approved college/university education program, with field supervisors provided by the college/university.  The college/university must have a current contract with the Peninsula School District.  In order to provide a broad learning experience for students, current and former employees of the Peninsula School District will not be placed in schools where they are working or have previously worked.

Application Process

Interested students should fill out an application for the “Certificated - Student Teacher” posting on our job openings page.  This job posting can be used by student teachers, interns, preclinical, and practicum teachers and ESAs.

Applicants will be asked to submit a resume and provide contact information for two confidential references.  A cover letter, transcripts, and letters of recommendation can also be submitted, but are optional.

Preservice teachers who are interested in an Alternative Route option, where they serve as the teacher of record while completing their college/university program, should apply to the “Certificated - Alternate Route” posting.  Please note, PSD has very few student teachers serving as the teacher of record.  Most of these student teachers are in a Special Education setting.

Many colleges and universities coordinate placements through their Field Placement departments.  Be sure to follow your college or university’s guidelines when making your application.

Please note: Requests for a placement at a specific school or with a specific teacher or counselor will not be accepted.

Deadline

Applications must be received at least 30 school days prior to the requested start date.
