Communities In Schools

Communities in Schools is a part of the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization, working in public schools to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

In the Peninsula School District last year, Communities in Schools site coordinators helped 3,304 students overcome barriers to success, stay on track to graduate and aim for a brighter future.

Hands On Art

Founded in 2003 Peninsula Hands On Art is a 501C3 non-profit that provides art instruction to over 3800 students in the greater Gig Harbor area each year. Reaching every elementary student in the Peninsula School District, it is the programs foundational belief that students across all socioeconomic backgrounds should have the same educational opportunity and ability to access artist quality materials and art education. The organization is implemented and supported by the volunteer hours of hundreds of parents, teachers, and artists who serve in a wide variety of ways to help bring a greater understanding of visual art and art history to children ages K-5th grade. Learn more about Hands On Art.

KP School Bus Connects provides an innovative program using school buses three times a day to assist the residents of the Key Peninsula in getting around.
 

Peninsula Schools Education Foundation

PSEF

The Peninsula Schools Education Foundation (PSEF) supports high quality education for each child in the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula communities of Pierce County, Washington.

Great public schools require collaborative support by residents, business and community leaders and diverse organizations. PSEF’s primary contribution to this effort occurs through fundraising and grant making. Grants go directly to individuals or teams of teachers to fund innovative and relevant projects, curricula and learning opportunities in the District. Learn more about PSEF.
