Pool Rules

Pool Rules

  1. No RUNNING or HORSEPLAY on the deck or in the locker rooms and lobby area.
  2. Children 6 & under or non-swimmers must be accompanied in the water by an adult.  The adults job is to stay within an arms-length at all times. No exceptions!
  3. NO DIVING in the shallow end.
  4. NO PLAYING on or around the diving blocks.
  5. Use of masks, fins, or inflatables must be approved by supervisor.
  6. Bathing apparel only, NO cut-off jeans or shirts.
  7. NO hanging or swimming on the lane lines.
  8. Shower before getting into the pool.
  9. DO NOT distract or interfere the lifeguard while on duty.
  10. NO person with open sores, rashes skin lesions or inflamed eyes, mouth, ear discharge, or carrying communicable diseases shall use the pool.
  11. Children who are not potty-trained must wear a swim diaper, plastic diaper & a well-fitting swimsuit. Swim diapers available in the pool office.

Diving Rules

Diving Rules

  1. Diving or jumping from side of diving area is only allowed under supervision.
  2. One person on the diving board at one time.
  3. Only one bounce on the board.
  4. Go straight off the board and move away quickly.
  5. Swim to far side of pool after going off diving board, and immediately get out.
  6. Patrons who wish to enter deep water must pass the swim test.
  7. Do not hang on diving board.
  8. Non-swimmers may not use the board.
  9. Front dives only off the diving board, other dives only under supervision of a coach.
  10. Use of goggles while going off the diving board is not permitted.

Swimming Lessons


Lesson registration is on a first come, first served basis. We accept Cash and Checks only. Please make Checks payable to PSD401.

Type of Lessons

  • Parent/Child
    6 mos. to 4 yrs. The parent is in the water at all times with their child
  • Level 1-8
    4 yrs + all levels are by skill, not age
  • Intro To Swim Team
    Must be able to pass Level 6 swim requirements
  • Private Lessons
    note: There is limited space with these lessons

How Registration Works

If you are currently enrolled in a session then you sign up on the last day of your class.

If you are new to the program, or have taken a break from the lessons then you sign up on the day listed. You can also sign up any day after that. Call ahead to check office hours and availability.


Weekday Lessons are (8) 30-minute classes, Intro is (8) 1 hour classes
$112 private; $48 group; $40 parent/child; $96 Intro to Swim

Sunday Lessons are (6) 40-minute classes – Level 1-8; Parent/Child are (6) 30-minute classes
$48 Level 1-8; $30 Parent-Child (Privates not offered on Sundays)

We accept cash or checks made payable to PSD#401.

Swim Lesson Dates

Monday / Wednesday Evening Lessons (8 classes/4 weeks)

5:30 PM – 8 PM 30 minute classes

     Session 1: Completed

     Session 2: October 7th – October 30th

     Session 3: November 4th – November 27th (Open registration begins November 1st) **7 Classes**

     Session 4: December 2nd – December 18th (Open registration begins November 27th) **6 Classes**

Sunday Lessons (6 Classes/6 Weeks)

10 AM – 12 PM 40 minute classes

     Session 1: September 22nd to October 27th

     Session 2: November 3rd to December 15th (Register October 28th) **No Class December 1st**

Recreational Swim

Peninsula High School

Saturday: 6-7:30pm

Sunday: 5:30-7pm

Cost: $4.00 general admission, $3.50 senior admission, $12.00 family (limit 5) admission

Lap Swim

Peninsula High School

Tuesday / Thursday: 5-7am

Sunday: 10-12pm

Cost: $4.00 general admission, $3.50 senior admission, $12.00 family (limit 5) admission

Private Parties

Aquatics Manager:

The Aquatics Manager will develop aquatic programs at both the Peninsula and Gig Harbor High School pools to ensure community use and promote good public relations between the school district and members of the community.

Pool Supervisor:

Part time, weekday evenings and/or weekends. Hours vary. Must be at least 18 years old and hold current lifeguard, first aid and CPR certificates. Experience with pools and swimming preferred. Wage starts at $12.50 or $13.50 if WSI certified and additional $1.00 after completing 100 hours.

Pool Lifeguard:

Part time, weekday evenings and /or weekends. Hours vary. Must be at least 16 years old, dependable and have current lifeguard, first aid and CPR certificates. Starting wage $11.50 or $12.00 with WSI certification. Wage increases $.50 after completing 100 hours.

Swim Instructor:

Part time, weekdays and evenings. Must be at least 15 years old with some swimming background. Must be dependable and good with children. Starting wage $11.50 or $12.00 with WSI certification.
