Peninsula School District Statement on Human Dignity

Recognizing and valuing that we are a diverse community, part of our mission is to provide a positive, harmonious environment where diversity is respected and encouraged. A major aim of education in the Peninsula School District is the development of a commitment to the core values of a democratic society. In accordance with that aim, the district strongly emphasizes a core value of mutual human respect for each person regardless of individual differences and/or characteristics. We expect this value to be manifested in the daily behaviors of students, staff, and volunteers.

We are engaged in work around equity, race, and identity to better foster and support an environment in which our students, families and staff grow and thrive. We strive to be an organization focused on eliminating racism, institutional bias, and racial and other identity inequities. Our work is focused in five main areas.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee

Peninsula School District created the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee to address educational equity practices in our schools and support departments. This committee is a commitment to transforming our current practices at a systemic level to eliminate disproportionality in education and in all aspects of administration. These efforts require a long-term commitment from our stakeholders that includes both making recommendations and staying engaged as our work progresses over time.
