Military Families Purple Star Program

This designation shows that we are a military-friendly school district and have specifically trained our staff to understand, help transition, and support our military students. To receive the award, school districts must successfully address the educational, social, and emotional barriers that students may experience when their parents/guardians are deployed or when relocating and transferring to a different school. School districts must also demonstrate a commitment to military-connected families and students by providing students with the tools and supports needed for success in their education and in their futures—whether they pursue postsecondary education, military involvement, or other careers.

Relocating to a new community and starting fresh at a new school can be stressful. Our goal is to ease your transition into or out of our district by supporting the unique needs of your military family.  Peninsula School District recognizes that Military Families face unique challenges, and our district strives to do all that is possible to help our students and their families throughout the school year.   

Upcoming Events for Military Families: 

We have a number of events throughout the year!

November events and activities
  -Veteran’s Day – each school will recognize veterans in a special way. Check with the school for specifics.

December events and activities
  -The Holiday Gift Shop is scheduled for Dec. 2-3 in the Swiftwater Community Room.  The gift shop will be open from 3:30-6:00 pm both days.
    This is an opportunity for your child to shop for gifts for the entire family at an affordable price. Prices range from .25 to $10.00.  Military
     family members will receive a coupon for $10.00 off their purchase.  Click on this link for a look at some of the items offered at last year’s
     shop. Stay tuned for more details closer to the date. 

April events and activities

     -Month of the Military Child (schools will be recognizing and celebrating these  students in a variety of ways so check with your school
      for more details on upcoming activities)

     -Carnival with games, prizes and food  (April date to be determined)
