Families will express interest in the Aviation Academy at Henderson Bay using filling out the lottery enrollment form.
- The lottery will run from February 23rd through March 2nd.
- One week after closing, families will be notified, via email. There will be no “live” viewing of the lottery.
- After the lottery, families will receive communication of acceptance or waitlist status and directions for acceptance.
- Families will then accept or decline enrollment into the Aviation Academy via electronic acceptance.
As seats and spaces allow, we will run a waitlist from March 3rd through the end of the school year. The waitlist will be on a first come, first served basis.
-
The Aviation Academy and PSD will communicate updates regarding the enrollment process through multiple avenues, to include Social Media, Website, ParentSquare Groups, and ParentSquare messages to currently enrolled secondary families. Do you know families interested in attending the Aviation Academy that are not yet connected to PSD? Please encourage them to follow our social media accounts and join our mailing list for most update to date information on enrollment.

We will be monitoring student program placement following Board Policy 3130: In-District Student Transfers.
Interested families are welcome to email cte@psd401.net with any questions.
-
Is there a priority system for specific students?
No. All applicants, including children of district staff, go through the same unbiased lottery system. Everyone has an equal chance of being selected, so long as they have entered the lottery in it’s open window.
Are students with IEPs, 504 Plans, or Highly Capable designations eligible?
Yes. The Aviation Academy is inclusive and designed to support all students, regardless of their academic or support needs. The program team will work with families to ensure the necessary accommodations are in place. Even when FAA regulations can be limiting factors for some careers, we are passionate about helping students find opportunities in aviation where they can thrive.
What happens if I’m not selected in the lottery?
Students who are not selected will be automatically placed on the waitlist.
What transportation options are available?
Transportation needs will be assessed during the registration process. Families can indicate if they require district-provided transportation, and the academy will work to accommodate these needs wherever possible.
Can I participate in sports or other extracurricular activities while enrolled?
Yes. The Aviation Academy is structured to allow students to remain active in district-sponsored extracurricular activities, such as sports, arts, and clubs.
Can I do Running Start and the Aviation Academy at the same time?
Yes. Which Running Start classes you are in depends on scheduling. Students interested in combining these opportunities should work with their school counselor and the academy team to determine if it’s feasible within their schedule.
What if I have a part-time job?
The program is designed to be flexible for students with part-time jobs. Families should discuss scheduling needs during the enrollment process to ensure conflicts are minimized.
What if I don’t have enough credits to graduate on time?
Academic counselors will work closely with students to create personalized plans that align with graduation requirements. This may include supplemental classes or alternative schedules to help students stay on track. -
