Peninsula School District is proud to announce that John Yellowlees, our Chief Academic Officer, has been named one of Education Insider’s Top 10 Chief Academic Officers for 2025. This national recognition highlights John’s strategic and collaborative leadership, his commitment to equity and innovation, and his dedication to transforming learning experiences into meaningful, long-term student success.
John’s career—spanning roles in school administration, student services, special education, and instructional leadership—reflect a deep focus on removing barriers to learning and providing tailored supports for diverse learners. Since joining Peninsula eight years ago and serving as Chief Academic Officer for the past two years, John has overseen curriculum and instruction, career and technical education, and a broad array of student services programs. “My journey has been inspired and influenced by a strong conviction in the great potential and power of public education. The choices we make on a daily basis can either open or close doors for students. Keep students at the heart of all you do.”
John’s approach centers on equity, evidence-based practice, and building sustainable systems that serve students and communities for generations. He credits his mentors and collaborative teams for shaping his leadership, and he emphasizes the importance of leading with integrity, humility, and a clear focus on student outcomes.
