PSD Announces Discovery, Evergreen, and Voyager Elementary Principals for Fall 2026

As we look ahead to fall 2026, we are thrilled to announce the hiring of three exceptional leaders who will be taking the helm at Discovery, Evergreen, and Voyager Elementary schools.
Discovery Elementary

Danielle Fischer will officially step into the permanent role of Principal at Discovery Elementary. Danielle has been in education for nearly 20 years, including nine as a building administrator. Within PSD, she worked at Harbor Heights and Voyager and most recently served as the Interim Principal at Discovery.
Danielle holds a Master’s degree from the University of Washington and a Bachelor’s degree from Washington State University. She brings a wide range of experience to the position, including roles as a PK through 5th grade classroom teacher, instructional coach, district highly capable mentor, and district beginning teacher mentor.
“Danielle has already proven her exceptional leadership capabilities during her time as Interim Principal,” said Superintendent Krestin Bahr. “Her deep passion for supporting all learners, coupled with her extensive background in instruction and mentoring, ensures Discovery will continue to thrive under her permanent leadership.”
When she is not at school, Danielle loves to ski or bike with her family. She has enjoyed dirt biking down Baja, rafting the Grand Canyon, summiting Mt. Rainier, and learning to scuba dive in Thailand.
“Discovery is an outstanding community and a place I am excited to call home,” Danielle said. “I am committed to working hard each and every day serving our students.”
Evergreen Elementary

Steve Hagen has accepted the role of Principal at Evergreen Elementary for fall 2026. Steve began his teaching career at Vaughn Elementary and also taught at Minter Creek Elementary. He is currently the principal of Sunset Primary School in University Place.
Steve holds a Master’s degree from Northwestern University, a Bachelor’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University, and a Principal Certification from the University of Washington. Before he was principal at Sunset Primary, he served as Principal of Drum Intermediate School in University Place.
“Steve is an outstanding fit for Evergreen Elementary. His extensive administrative background combined with his deep roots in the local area makes him uniquely equipped to maintain a strong, welcoming school culture,” said Superintendent Krestin Bahr. “We are excited to welcome his fresh perspective from his time out of the district, while knowing his heart is already in the community.”
Outside of school, Steve takes full advantage of the Key Peninsula and enjoys hiking, biking, and spending time on the waters of the Puget Sound.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as the principal of Evergreen Elementary,” said Steve Hagen. “I have lived in the Evergreen boundary for more than 25 years, and very much look forward to the opportunity to work with the staff and students of my neighborhood school.”
Voyager Elementary

Mary Caseley has accepted the role of Principal at Voyager Elementary for fall 2026. Most recently serving as the Deputy Principal at Purdy Elementary, Mary has been with Peninsula School District for more than 20 years.
Mary earned her Master’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University, and her Bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University. She holds a Principal Certification from Gonzaga University, and she is also a National Board Certified Teacher. Mary taught at Kopachuck Middle School and served as an instructional facilitator for PSD for nine years, where her work earned recognition through the Bill Simpson Award.
“Mary’s impact on our district over the years has been truly remarkable," said Superintendent Krestin Bahr. "Her visionary work in supporting our educators, combined with her deep commitment to student belonging and success, makes her an outstanding choice to lead Voyager Elementary."
Mary is already deeply connected to the Voyager community on a personal level, as her two sons, a freshman and a senior, both attended Voyager.
“I am thrilled to join the Voyager family,” Mary said. “I am looking forward to getting to know the community and working together for our students.”
Please join us in congratulating Danielle Fischer and Mary Caseley, and in welcoming Steve Hagen back to the PSD team. We look forward to the positive impacts they will have on their school communities.
