Celebrating Health Professionals Recognition Week

This week, Peninsula School District is proud to honor the incredible Health Technicians and Nurses who keep our schools running safely. Their dedication to the health and well-being of our students is truly commendable.
These dedicated professionals are more than just caregivers—they are vital advocates for our children's health, ensuring that every student is safe, healthy, and ready to learn. To celebrate, we asked a few of our outstanding Health Technicians to share what makes their roles so special. A common theme emerged: a love for supporting students when they need it most.
For Robyn Miller, Health Technician at Vaughn Elementary, the reward comes from daily interactions with the youngest learners. “I love working with kids and helping them feel safe, cared for, and supported throughout the school day,” she said.
That sentiment of being a "safe space" is echoed across the district. At Harbor Heights Elementary, Health Technician Gwynne Reguindin explains that being a reliable figure is what makes the job so fulfilling. “I love my job because I get to be a steady and caring presence for students when they need it most. Knowing I play even a small part in their health and confidence each day makes this work incredibly rewarding.”
The impact of our health staff extends into the high school years, too. Melissa Meikle, Health Technician at Henderson Bay High School, highlights the profound relationships built in the school health room. “Whether it’s caring for a student who is sick or hurt, offering comfort during a hard moment, or simply being a safe and familiar face, I love knowing I can help students feel supported,” she said. “I truly love my job and the relationships I get to build with students, families, and staff.”
Please join us this week in expressing our profound gratitude for their hard work and commitment. To all 17 of our Health Technicians and our 16 Nurses across the district: thank you for making a difference every single day!
