Now Hiring: ESA School Nurse (BSN or higher) • Licensed Nurses (LPN or RN)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The school nurse's primary function is to strengthen the educational process through interventions and protection of the health status of children grades K-12. As a member of the student's professional team, the school nurse works with the school staff and parent to identify students with health concerns and design individual or special programs for those students, which would assist in achieving their maximum learning potential through maintaining optimum physical, mental and social health.
Position require specialist to work 180 Student Contract days with additional 3 days of State required Professional Development days. Additional Professional Development and Implementation days are offered and will be used to improve student learning. Educators will be compensated in accordance to educator per diem rate of pay and paid as worked.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Washington State Registered Nurse License required.
- Valid Washington State ESA Nurse Certificate required, or willingness to obtain ESA Certificate. Information on obtaining an ESA certificate may be found here
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
- Experience in school nursing preferred
- Ability to maintain a comprehensive school health program that includes student health screening, development of individualized health care plans, staff training, providing direct nursing care, supervision of unlicensed staff and managing the health room
- Experience in multi-disciplinary team participation
- Understanding of laws governing both education and nursing practice
- Understanding of Washington State's Essential Academic Learning requirements
- Maintain a valid First Aid/CPR card
- Strong communication skills essential

REQUIRED BEFORE START OF POSITION:
Unless you have been fingerprinted in a school district within the last two years, you will be required to have fingerprinting done. The Olympic ESD 114 (360.478.6881) in Bremerton offers digital live-scan fingerprinting services by appointment for a fee of $83.00.
