This past weekend, our Peninsula School District football teams faced off in the annual Fishbowl, a rivalry for the ages! Both Gig Harbor and Peninsula High showed incredible skill, heart, and — most importantly — sportsmanship. Whether you cheered in the stands or from home, we couldn’t be prouder of the way our student-athletes represented PSD.
Both teams played with intensity and respect, showing what it means to compete with integrity. We want to shout out to standout players, leaders, and coaches for modeling teamwork both on and off the field. The Fishbowl reminds us: even in rivalry, we are all part of the PSD family.
This weekend was a masterclass in sportsmanship: handshakes, cheers for the other team, and respect for every call. These moments are exactly what PSD Athletics is all about—competing hard, but always with class. Let’s carry this energy into every game, practice, and event this season.

“Seahawk football is a program that is built on tradition and values. While the teams change year to year, the program has a consistent message- 11 as 1. We are so excited for this year's team and all the amazing things that they are going to do on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Everyday they work hard to be the best version of themselves, they care about the school they are in, and they want to leave the world a better place than they found it. The future is PURDY bright out here at Peninsula!“

"The Gig Harbor Tides football program is excited to take on the challenge of a new year. Our motto of FIGHT stands for Fearless, Integrity, Grit, Heart and Toughness. This applies in football, at school and in the community. The Tides are built on a strong foundation of leadership, teamwork and brotherhood. And we are energized to build a legacy of success on and off the field."

After an amazing Fishbowl weekend, it’s the perfect time to remind ourselves what sportsmanship looks like at PSD: compete with intensity, respect opponents, encourage teammates, thank officials, and celebrate the effort—win or lose. From a handshake after a tough game to cheering for the other team’s success, sportsmanship is at the heart of what makes PSD Athletics special—and it’s something we strive to see in every practice, game, and event.
