A Thanksgiving Message from Superintendent Krestin Bahr

Dear Peninsula School District Families,

As we approach Thanksgiving break, I want to thank you for being such strong partners this fall. When families are engaged, helping with homework, showing up to conferences, and cheering at school events, it changes everything for students.

This time of year reminds me that it's the people who make our district special: our students who come ready to learn, our staff who go the extra mile every day, and families like yours who support your students and our schools.

Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and family. The holidays are a meaningful opportunity to slow down and create memories that shape childhood. One of my favorite quotes is from Rachel Carson’s book, The Sense of Wonder: “If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement, and mystery of the world we live in.”

As we gather this holiday weekend, consider reading a book together. Share family stories from your own childhood. Get outside: take walks, explore, play games in the yard. These simple moments of connection are what children remember.

I hope you'll find time to rest, be present with the people who matter most, and enjoy being together. We'll see your students back on Monday, ready for the final stretch before winter break.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Krestin Bahr
Superintendent
