Career and Technical Education (CTE) is a critical component of a student’s middle and high school journey. That is why Peninsula School District offers CTE courses that prepare students for both college and careers by enabling them to explore interests, develop skills, and grow academically. Participating in CTE courses helps students not only discover their aspirations, but also develop a plan to reach those aspirations.
Specialized CTE equipment can be expensive for district’s to purchase and maintain, so regional skills centers, like West Sound Tech Skills (WST) in Bremerton, offer programs for students who attend school in neighboring districts. PSD students can attend half-day CTE programs at WST to obtain high school academic credit, college credit, industry certifications, career-connected learning, and college entrance requirements. For more information, visit https://www.westsoundtech.org/.
In cooperation with West Sound Tech Skills Center, Peninsula School District offers classes during the summer for students who will be enrolled in high school for the 2022 -2023 school year. It is a great way to get ahead on high school credit and build your aspirations!
Engaging in community service is a way to uplift others, the community, and oneself. The impact on the lives of others and the community at large can be lasting. It is also a great way to enrich your skills at relationship-building, empathy, problem-solving, and leadership. Peninsula School District is proud to honor students who contribute to our community with the Varsity Letter in Community Service. This opportunity is available to students going into 9th through 12th grade and can be repeated through each year of high school.
TCC Gig Harbor and Peninsula School District have an Open Doors partnership as an option to help re-engage our students in school. Students earn high school credit and college credit with the goal of earning a high school diploma as well as an Associate’s Degree. Courses are held on the Tacoma Community College Gig Harbor campus.
Career Connected Partnerships between business and community organizations and Career and Technical Education (CTE) are deeply impactful for student aspirations and in helping them create their future while developing important skills.
