Peninsula School District Welcomes New Health Services Coordinator

Peninsula School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Jocelyn Hanson, MSN, RN, as our new Health Services Coordinator. Jocelyn will be taking over this vital role from Miriam Atchison, who is retiring after an extraordinary 27 years of dedicated service to PSD.
Miriam began her journey with Peninsula School District in the 1997-1998 school year as a school nurse, later advancing to the lead nurse position, now called the Health Services Coordinator, in 2015-2016. Throughout her tenure, Miriam has been instrumental in shaping our district's health services, most notably helping lead us through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her leadership, expertise, and unwavering commitment to student health and safety have made an indelible impact on our entire school community.
Jocelyn brings extensive experience in school health services, having most recently served as a school nurse at Peninsula High School. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing Informatics from Western Governors University and has been with the district since 2017. Her background includes case management, workflow optimization, and championing innovative healthcare solutions in educational settings.
"I am thrilled to lead our district's incredible team of school nurses, licensed nurses, and health technicians with whom I have worked alongside for the last 8 years," said Hanson. "I look forward to collaborating on continued efforts to enhance productivity and efficiency, promote best practices, and embrace innovation to better meet the needs of our schools and deliver high-quality, student-centered care. Our work impacts more than health—it supports learning, equity, and engagement. I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue growing with this team as we help students thrive in the classroom and beyond."
Jocelyn is a member of the National Association of School Nurses and School Nurses of Washington (SNOW) and was recognized with the Mary Lee Squires Teamwork Award in 2022. Her expertise in nursing informatics and commitment to improving healthcare delivery in educational settings will be invaluable as she leads our health services team.
Please join us in congratulating Jocelyn on her new role and extending our heartfelt gratitude to Miriam Atchison for her 27 years of exceptional service, leadership through challenging times, and lasting contributions to student health and wellness in our district
