Prepare for a future in agriculture with Peninsula School District’s agriculture CTE program!

Agriculture Program with Peninsula School District

Agriculture Pathways in Career & Technical Education (CTE)
Peninsula School District is proud to offer growing opportunities in agricultural education through our Career & Technical Education (CTE) program. While our current offerings are limited, they provide students with meaningful foundations in sustainability, environmental science, and real-world financial and career readiness.

All PSD high school students can explore the intersection of agriculture, business, and life planning through our Career, College, & Financial Exploration course. At Gig Harbor High School, students can dive deeper into environmental stewardship and the science behind agricultural systems by enrolling in AP Environmental Science.

As we look to the future, we are committed to expanding our agricultural CTE pathways to support hands-on learning and prepare students for green careers in a changing world.

Future Industry Data

Agriculture is the backbone of our nation—feeding communities, fueling economies, and shaping the future of sustainable living. From food production and environmental science to cutting-edge ag-tech and conservation, the agriculture industry is critical to both rural and urban development across the United States.

As the industry evolves, so do career opportunities. According to recent projections, the U.S. agriculture sector is expected to grow steadily in the coming decade, with specialized fields like animal science, environmental stewardship, precision agriculture, and regenerative farming seeing significant demand. The USDA anticipates modest economic growth in agriculture-related fields in the next 10 years, with the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting about 88,500 agricultural jobs opening each year.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in agriculture prepare students with real-world skills and pathways to high-demand careers that support the environment, public health, and global food security. Whether students are interested in science, business, or hands-on work outdoors, agriculture offers diverse and meaningful futures.
