The Peninsula School District is excited to share that both Peninsula High School and Gig Harbor High School were recognized in the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best High School rankings. 

Peninsula High School is placed in the top 26% of all ranked schools across the nation, and ranks in the top quarter of all ranked high schools in Washington state. Gig Harbor High School earned a spot in the top 40% of ranked schools nationwide. In Washington, Gig Harbor ranked in the top 37% statewide. 

This recognition reflects the hard work happening in our schools every day. Both Peninsula High School and Gig Harbor High School demonstrate; 

• Strong college readiness preparation with comprehensive AP course offerings
• Graduation rates exceeding 90%
• Reading proficiency scores above state averages
• Committed faculty and staff supporting student success
• Diverse learning opportunities that prepare students for their future goals

The U.S. News rankings evaluate nearly 18,000 public high schools nationwide, making this recognition particularly meaningful. Schools are ranked based on college readiness, state assessment performance, graduation rates, and how well they prepare students for post-secondary success.
