Voters Approving PSD’s Replacement Educational Programs and Operations Levy
Early voting results indicate strong community support for the Replacement Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy on the February 10 ballot. The levy is passing with 58.9% approval.
“We are deeply grateful to Peninsula School District voters for their continued commitment to our schools and students,” said Superintendent Krestin Bahr. “This levy represents our community's dedication to the excellent programs and experienced staff that make our school district strong.”
The three-year EP&O Levy replaces the expiring 2023 levy. The funding ensures continued support for critical programs and personnel, representing about 17 percent of the district's budget. The levy continues funding for day-to-day school operations and programs not fully funded by the state, including educators, paraeducators, technology specialists, athletics, arts, music, early learning, highly capable, curriculum updates, transportation, school safety officers, nurses, counselors, and preventative maintenance projects.
“On behalf of the entire team, I extend our gratitude to the voters for their unwavering support in approving the Educational Programs and Operations Levy,” said Ashley Murphy, Chief Financial Officer. “The levy will sustain high-quality learning experiences and essential services, reinforcing Peninsula School District's commitment to excellence in education for all students.”
PSD remains committed to fiscal responsibility and maintains one of the lowest school tax rates in Pierce County. The total local school tax rate, including both the EP&O levy, the existing Safety, Security, and Technology Levy, and the existing 2019 Bond, is estimated to be $1.99 per $1,000 of assessed value, beginning in 2027.
Updated vote totals will be released on February 11, 12 and 20. Election results will be certified by Pierce County Elections on February 20.
