Peninsula School Board Earns Sixth Consecutive Board of Distinction Award

For the sixth consecutive year, the Peninsula School District Board of Directors has been named a Board of Distinction by the Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA).
Peninsula School District has demonstrated consistent leadership excellence, earning the Board of Distinction award in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
WSSDA praised the Board's active, forward-looking governance across academic achievement, fiscal stewardship, innovation, future-ready learning, and community engagement. They highlighted the Board's:
- Commitment to continuous professional learning
- Clear distinction between the Board's governance role and the implementation work of the superintendent and staff
- Movement toward clearer goals, public progress monitoring, and long-range planning
- Recently adopted strategic plan, which connects academic excellence, innovation, fiscal responsibility, learning environment, and community partnership
The Board of Distinction program recognizes boards that show clear evidence of how their governance supports student success. Applicants are measured against the Washington School Board Standards, and this year's recognition reflects the Board's steady focus on goals, accountability, and continuous improvement.
“Our Board's commitment to thoughtful governance, transparency, and student-centered leadership is exemplary,” said Superintendent Krestin Bahr. "Earning this honor for six consecutive years is a testament to their dedication to our community and our shared vision for every child’s future. Their guidance provides the foundation that allows our staff to innovate and our students to thrive.”
Thank you to our Board of Directors for their dedication to our students, staff, and community. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
